What's this site all about?
MySpaceCodeZone.net is a place for MySpace users to get all kinds of code to customize
their profile. It's designed for the novice user who does not know, and does not
care to know, HTML or CSS. A user can come to our site, use a GUI (graphical user
interface) to create a customization, then click on a button to get the code they
generated copied to the Windows clipboard. We want to make it easy for people to
express themselves through customization.

How much does it cost to use this site?
Everything is free. We use Google Adsense to help pay some of the bills. If you dig the
site and want to help out, just click on a Google ad here and there. They're located on the main page.
Where's the code I'm generating?
We don't display any code anywhere on the site. It's kept in a hidden field on each page. Most people don't care what the code
looks like, they just want it to work. We want to make everything super easy, so we made the process as easy as clicking the
Get The Code button.
All you have to do is click that button and the code will be copied to your clipboard. You can see it when you paste it into your MySpace page.

Do I have to download any code or install any apps to use this site?
No. Everything runs in the browser. You're all set to get started.
What do I do with the code I've generated? In other words, how do I get it to work on my MySpace profile page?
Edit your profile and put the code in your About Me section.
What if I want to get more than 1 customization from your site? For example, I want to change my scrollbar colors and the background color.
No problem. The code generated will be in-line CSS (Cascading Style Sheet) code.
MySpace allows users to put more than 1 inline CSS reference in a page.
Just put the second CSS code set after the first
.So the first 2 lines of your About Me section might look like this:

Am I required to join the site in order to get any code?
No. Membership is required only if you want to participate in the discussion boards.
How much does it cost to become a member?
Nothing. Membership, like everything else on the site, is free.
I got code for more than one customizaation, then put them on my MySpace page but I'm not seeing all of them working.
You may have generated conflicting CSS code.
For example - if you generate a background color of black then generate a scrollable area with a background color of blue, only 1 color will take.
If you're stuck, email me the code and I'll take a look at it for you.
Click on I'm Stuck...Help! in the navigation area at the top or bottom of this page and paste in the code.

Why do you do all this and not charge money? What's in it for you?
I get to own/operate a web site, learn new technology that will help me at my job and have fun in the process. I'm a geek, what can I say?
I can't get my code to work - what do I do?
MySpace sometimes makes changes to its site which could break the code you get from this site. Use the discussion boards to post your question. Chances are, someone can help you. If not, feel free to send me an email by clicking Report a Bug above. Note that you have to join to post to the discussion boards.

Why do I see a link to your web site in the top left corner of my profile after getting one of your customizations?
This is some advertising I built into the site. I'm trying to get the word out on MySpaceCodeZone.net. I wanted to do this in a way that is unobtrusive and not offensive. While I can't stop anyone from removing the link part of the code, I ask that you leave it there in return for getting the code for free. I'm just one person running this site in addition to working a full-time job, not some big corporation.
I need your help to get the word out on this site. Here's an example of how it will look on your profile:

Which browsers does this site work best with?
The site was developed in IE6/IE7 using a screen resoltion of 1680 X 1050. I encountered problems with positioning screen elements via HTML (this page for example, gets all screwed up if you click 'Show All' in Firefox) and couldn't get some of the customizations to update on the fly in Firefox. If I had the time I'd correct these items in Firefox but right now there's too many things going on. Your best bet is to stick with IE.
Are there any ActiveX scripts running on this site?
No. Everything is accomplished thru javascript generating code that renders in HTML SPAN tags. If you have javascript disabled in your browser, you will not see any of the customizations update on the fly but the code you get will still work on your MySpace profile.

What happens to my posts if I should cancel my account?
Your posts will remain. If you have a pic it will no longer be clickable. Instead of the mouseover text showing profile data, it will say you're no longer a member
How do I change my password?
Sign in, click on My Profile and you'll see a link that says Change your password towards the top of the page. Here's a screen shot:
After I view a news article I don't see the Views count increase by 1.
The situation is the page needs to be refreshed to see the new number. When you click the link to read the news item, the page is not refreshed. The best way to refresh the page is to navigate off the page and then come back. If you press F5/refresh you might resubmit your comment again, resulting in your comment appearing twice. Stick to navigating off then back on.

Some of these pages are confusing to figure out how to use. What can I do?

Click on the Video Tutorials link above. You'll see each content page listed on the site along with a link to a short video I set up to explain how to use that page.

If I forget my password, can you look it up for me?
No. Passwords are stored encrypted in our database. In fact, I can't even change it for you. You have to click on the Forgot your password link.
